The Young Investment Banker Summer Internship, held at New York University (NYU), is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for students aged 15-18 to experience life as an investment banker in one of the world’s leading financial capitals.
Over the course of five action-packed days, you will embark on an international Investment Banking journey through New York. You will have exclusive access to a select group of high-ranking bankers who will coach you through live, interactive experiences of Sales & Trading, Mergers & Acquisitions, Private Equity, and Hedge Funds.
You will dive into the heart of New York’s financial district during private visits to some of the world’s most iconic investment banking landmarks, including the New York Stock Exchange, and attend exclusive networking receptions with some of the most elite bankers in New York. When should I arrive and leave?
Check-in will occur between 14.00 – 21.00 on Friday 9th August. If you need to arrive outside that time (or even on Saturday morning) please let us know and we shall try to make special arrangements for you.
Check-out will occur at 9.30am on Tuesday 13th August. You may bring your luggage with you to the programme on Tuesday or store it at the hotel.
How do I get to the accommodation?
The nearest subway station is Canal Street (It is located in Chinatown and SoHo, and is shared by the BMT Broadway Line, the IRT Lexington Avenue Line, and the BMT Nassau Street Line). If arriving from one of the 3 major airports serving Manhattan, you can find a link to directions below:
Will I have to share my room/facilities?
Yes, the rooms are twin rooms with two beds, and you will share your room with a member of the same sex.
How safe is the accommodation?
The hotel has staff 24 hours on site. In addition, InvestIN staff (our chaperones) will be staying at the hotel, and there will be a 24-hour contact number (available from the time students check-in until the end of the programme) should you need any assistance.
Can you tell me more about the chaperones?
Our chaperones are security-vetted (enhanced DBS check), adult members of staff who have experience of supervising children. They will carry out registration 3 times per day and escort the students to and from the programme. A chaperone will be available 24 hours per day should students need any assistance.
Are any meals included?
Breakfast is included and there are many eateries nearby for lunch and dinner. Should you have any dietary requirements we shall do our best to accommodate them subject to the ability of the venues to do so. We shall ask you about any dietary requirements in a separate form after you have booked.
Do I need a visa?
Nationals of certain countries require visas to visit the USA. You can check here.
Do I need to provide any details in advance of my arrival?
Once you have registered we shall send you a form to complete which asks for basic information such as your name, address, contact, and passport details. You must bring your passport with you for check-in. You will also require a bank card for accommodation incidentals, as well as spending money for the time you spend in the USA. We would recommend a minimum of $250. InvestIN staff are happy to discuss any of these points with you over the telephone. Please call +44 (0) 203 915 1420 if you need further information.
What happens in the event of an accident or emergency?
A chaperone will be available 24 hours per day (from the time students check-in until the end of the programme) should students need any assistance.
Registration takes place 3 times per day at the accommodation:
Students must be present for each registration.
We ask that students are back on Arlo SoHo premises by 21:30 and do not permit students to leave the accommodation after that time.
Our programmes are an opportunity for students to experience professional life. As such, we expect our students to behave like young adults. Any student who displays any behaviour that would, in our reasonable opinion, be undesirable or whose behaviour we, or the hotel, consider to be inappropriate, may be asked to leave the programme and the accommodation immediately. Inappropriate behaviour includes the consumption of alcohol, rude behaviour towards others, and failure to turn up to registration
Can parents visit or stay?
Parents can visit students but are not permitted to enter into the lecture hall/firms themselves as we try to create a professional environment. Parents can stay overnight at the accommodation but will need to make their own separate arrangement for this.
Can I arrange my own accommodation?
You may arrange your own accommodation but we cannot offer the programme only as a separate price. As such, full programme fees will be payable whether or not the accommodation is used.
Can I cancel my internship place?
You may cancel your place at any time. Cancellations of your place can be requested by emailing us at firstname.lastname@example.org. If you cancel your place 180 days or more before the start date of the programme, you will receive a 75% refund of the total programme fee. If you cancel your place between 120 days and 180 days before the start date of the programme, you will receive a 50% refund of the total programme fee. If you cancel your place between 90 days and 120 days before the start date of the programme, you will receive a 25% refund of the total programme fee. Programme places cancelled less than 90 days before the start date of the programme will receive no refund of programme fees.
Is there WiFi internet access?
There is free WiFi access in all bedrooms.
Are the rooms air-conditioned/heated?
No. There is no air-conditioning and the rooms are not heated in the summer
